Aloe vera for targeted skin regeneration
Following peptide-mediated matrix stimulation, the toner provides the skin with targeted ingredients that contribute to soothing and regeneration, and which have shown positive effects on the skin barrier function in current studies. Aloe vera at a concentration of 10% delivers hydrating polysaccharides and secondary plant compounds with antioxidant potential. Several randomized controlled trials and reviews confirm the skin-regenerating properties of topically applied aloe vera: They demonstrate significantly accelerated epithelialization, anti-inflammatory effects, and the promotion of collagen synthesis and skin barrier function in various indications, particularly in irritated or damaged skin such as burns and sunburn.
Alpha-bisabolol, flavonoids & lactic acid: a regulatory system
Witch hazel extract has astringent and anti-inflammatory properties due to its tannin content. A recent study from 2024 indicates that a witch hazel-containing formulation reduces oxidative markers, inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and IL-8, and strengthens the skin barrier (PubMed 35000000). Panthenol (vitamin B5) at a concentration of 1% has a hydrating effect, supports lipid synthesis in the stratum corneum, and accelerates epidermal regeneration. A double-blind randomized controlled trial (RCT) with 2.5% dexpanthenol showed significant improvements in skin hydration and a reduction in transepidermal water loss (TEWL) in dry skin, with very good tolerability (PubMed 36832367). Allantoin complements the effect with cell-stimulating and keratoplastic properties, leading to improved epidermal regeneration, particularly in sensitive or irritated skin. A study with 213 healthy subjects showed very good tolerability and no sensitization effects (PubMed 21738598).
