Alpha-bisabolol, the highly effective active ingredient in chamomile, has been shown in recent studies to not only exert anti-inflammatory effects but also to modulate cellular aging processes. By reducing so-called SASP factors, inflammatory messengers associated with skin aging and loss of elasticity, and by stimulating collagen I and III and elastin, α-bisabolol can contribute to strengthening the skin matrix. Chamomile flower extract naturally enhances this effect: It contains skin-soothing flavonoids. Flavonoids are plant-based compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can protect and soothe the skin from free radicals. Free radicals are mostly reactive oxygen molecules from the environment (ROS, e.g., superoxide or hydroxyl radicals) that are missing an electron. This instability causes them to attack other cell components such as lipids, proteins, or DNA to compensate for their electron deficiency, which can lead to oxidative stress, cell damage, and premature skin aging. Chamomile flower extract thus supports the repair of sensitive skin conditions, such as redness or irritation.

In addition, lactic acid acts as a gentle, natural AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) to regulate the skin's pH value. It supports a stable, skin-friendly environment, promotes the skin microbiome, and simultaneously gently removes dead skin cells for a clearer, more even complexion without irritation.
