Hydration, lipid regeneration & barrier strengthening

Back

The skin barrier is crucial for healthy skin: it protects against moisture loss, irritants, germs, and environmental influences. If it is compromised, as is often the case with dry, sensitive, or blemished skin, it can lead to feelings of tightness, redness, and chronic irritation. The 05 Clear Skin Serum therefore combines three complementary groups of active ingredients that work together to stabilize and regenerate the skin barrier: water-binding humectants, skin-like lipid building blocks, and bioactive enzyme extracts.

Glycerin & Butylene Glycol

Glycerin and butylene glycol bind water in the skin, providing immediate hydration. However, this moisture alone is not enough; it must also be retained. This is where coco-caprylate and lecithin come into play: As skin-like lipids, they help rebuild the skin's natural protective layer, the so-called lipid barrier. Only when this lipid layer is intact can moisture remain in the skin. Lipids and humectants thus work like a team: One attracts water, the other keeps it where it's needed.

Tocopherol (Vitamin E)

Tocopherol (vitamin E) is one of the most important fat-soluble antioxidants in skincare. It protects the lipid components of cell membranes from oxidative damage, particularly from lipid peroxidation. This oxidative process can be triggered by environmental stress, UV radiation, or inflammatory stimuli and weakens the skin's barrier function.

Through its stabilizing effect on the lipid structure between cells, tocopherol supports the integrity of the outer skin layer and thus complements the function of skin-compatible fats such as coco-caprylate. Furthermore, it works in conjunction with other antioxidant substances such as silymarin, thereby better protecting the skin against environmental oxidative stress.

In cosmetic formulations such as the 05 Clear Skin Serum, tocopherol thus helps to maintain the barrier function and limit premature structural skin changes in the context of oxidative stress.

Operating principle:

Protection against lipid peroxidation, stabilization of the cell membrane, antioxidant.

Clinical result:

Supports the barrier function, reduces oxidatively caused skin damage, and contributes to a more resilient skin appearance.

Hydrolyzed Yeast Extract

Hydrolyzed yeast extract, a fermented yeast extract, complements this effect at the cellular level. It stimulates the production of the skin's own hyaluronic acid, its natural moisture reservoir. This not only improves the skin's ability to retain moisture but also strengthens its overall structure.

Operating principle:

Moisture retention, barrier building, stimulation of natural skin renewal.

Clinical result:

The skin becomes visibly more hydrated, elastic, and resilient. Moisture loss is reduced, and the protective barrier is stabilized for a healthy, balanced complexion that is protected against irritation and external stressors in the long term.
